License & Terms and Conditions Summary
This document summarizes the key terms under which you may use EOxCloudless datasets and services by EOX IT Services GmbH, also referred to as EOX. It is intended for human understanding and does not replace the official license (EOX Commercial Attribution-RestrictedUse 1.2 License), which remains the legally binding source. The EOX General Terms and Conditions (https://eox.at/terms-conditions/) also apply.
Attribution Requirement
All uses of EOxCloudless require the following attribution:
- Data & Viewing Products: EOxCloudless https://cloudless.eox.at by EOX IT Services GmbH (Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data "year")
- Attribution must be clearly visible wherever the imagery is displayed.
- For interactive maps, the credit should appear in the map interface.
- In cases where direct display is not possible, the attribution should be included under credits, data sources, or as a part of metadata.
- As of June 2026 unified attribution is valid for both Data and Viewing products, the previous attribution string for Viewing Products does not need to be changed if used with previous attribution text.
Permitted Use
Non-Commercial Use
You may use EOxCloudless freely for non-commercial purposes under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License, including:
- Academic research
- Educational materials, school and university projects
- NGO publications and humanitarian mapping
- Personal use
As long as the attribution is preserved, non-commercial use is unrestricted.
Commercial Use
You may use EOxCloudless for commercial purposes, given that you obtained an EOX Commercial Attribution-RestrictedUse 1.2 License from EOX, including:
- Web services and commercial dashboards
- Paid software or GIS tools
- Client-facing work or consulting deliverables
- Printed map products sold for profit
Commercial use is permitted under the same conditions:
- You must include proper attribution
- You must not imply endorsement by European Commission (EC) or the European Space Agency (ESA)
Redistribution and Derivative Works
You may:
- Modify and enhance the imagery
- Incorporate it into larger products or services
- Redistribute modified or unmodified imagery as part of your work
Conditions:
- Attribution must remain visible and intact
- You must not prevent others from learning about the original license
- You must not claim ownership of the underlying data
Sub-Licensing
Sub-licensing or any kind of direct resale is not permitted by default.
To sub-license EOxCloudless (i.e., to allow third parties to reuse the data under your own distribution model), you must:
- Enter into an explicit agreement with EOX IT Services GmbH
- Pay an additional licensing fee
- Ensure that attribution and license terms remain transparent to sub-licensees
You may not distribute EOxCloudless under your own license or allow others to re-use it independently without EOX's written permission.
Using in Commercial Products and Applications
You may include EOxCloudless in commercial offerings that add value:
- Integrated in a web platform, print product, or analytical service
- As part of a processed or visualized dataset
- Bundled with other tools or data
You may not:
- Sell or license the imagery as a standalone product without modification
- Rebrand or white-label the imagery without attribution
- Explicitly prevent your customers from accessing the original license
Limitations of Liability
The data is provided as-is, without warranty. EOX IT Services GmbH makes no guarantees regarding accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a specific use. Use is at your own risk.
EOX IT Services GmbH shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or any damages arising out of or in connection with the use of the data, including but not limited to loss of profits, business interruption, or loss of information.
